Asia is celebrating the annual lunar thanksgiving holiday this week. In South Korea, where it's known as Chuseok, the holiday is celebrated by visiting family, paying respects to ancestors and the giving and receiving of packaged cans of Spam.

 

->아시아는 이번 주에 매년 음력 추수 감사절을 축하합니다. 추석으로 알려진 한국에서는 가족을 방문하고 조상에게 경의를 표하며 스팸 캔을주고받는 등 명절을 기념합니다.

After the Korean War, there were few refrigerators or protein-dense foods in South Korea. Koreans bartered with American troops for Spam (canned pork). As South Korea continued to develop, Spam turned into a staple food and it is often a common gift given during Korean Thanksgiving.
